PROBLEM
Final disposition is a problem due to a confluence of land, culture, and cost. People die and will continue to die - where shall they rest, if at all? The options for final disposition vary in social/religious acceptance, impact on the environment, and resulting financial burden.
Where shall the dead rest, if at all? At what cost does this rest come?
This tool was developed to help people explore the variable environmental impact of disposition methods and explore possible collective futures.
Physical fate is universal, taboo, and impactful - socially, economically, and ecologically. Attitudes toward final disposition change over time, as do the options available (both practically and legally) to the public. Both attitudes and access to varied disposition methods are salient as our ever-increasing population ages. Those deaths will engender a certain carbon cost - how much is up to them, their values, and their constituents.
